Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

What does it mean to be “devoted”? To “devote” comes from the Latin word meaning, “to vow.” Devoting yourself to something is not just a casual assent. It is a vow. A promise. We are told to be very careful with what we promise with God. Can you promise to speak with him regularly and follow through with it?

Think of prayer as a vow during this week.
